As our attention turns to COP26 and we hold hopes of progress on reducing harmful emissions across the world, we would do well to remember that God is overall –creator and sustainer. As Christians our relationship with God is direct and personal.
When Glasgow received it Coat of Arms in 1866 the motto adopted was ‘Let Glasgow Flourish’. This is taken from the inscription on the bell of the Tron church building, and is said to be a quote from a sermon by St Mungo. The full quotation is:
‘Lord, let Glasgow flourish by the preaching of the word and praising thy name.’
As John Ray Initiative people turn their attention to (and maybe go to) Glasgow, let’s remember the full quotation. Let it encourage us and motivate us to seek God’s help at this crucial event.
